I see a lot of people on here use Steam, so I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I went to purchase a game today, but it wouldn’t let me for some reason. I figured it was probably because I haven’t verified my email address or whatever in like 400 days. I no longer use the email associated with my account, so I went to change my email address. Of course Steam requires that you enter a code sent to the new email as well as a text message code sent to the phone associated with your account. The problem is I also no longer have that phone. I got the email code, but you can’t change your email until you enter the text code. But I can’t change the phone number without access to my new email because you need that code too. How, for the love of all that is holy, can I get in contact with Steam Support? When I go to the Steam Support page it’s just a bunch of tips and shit, no contact info.
And a Steam car because relevant:

Look at “ My account is self-locked ”, perhaps?
Otherwise, you’re not going to have a good time. Steam support is infamously bad, and that hasn’t changed despite the stupid amounts of hats, gun skins and gloves sold.

I tried that too. Steam assures me that my account isn’t locked. Lol It’s as good as locked though. How does Steam not have a dedicated customer support number or anything? I feel like I’m going to have to create a new account altogether. I can’t stand that you need two codes to change anything with your account. I get that it’s a security feature but coupled with a lack of customer support, you’re as good as boned.

Self-locked would be for something else.
Allegedly, there’s paths to get to where you can submit a request for support, but...
The other option is, although this is not actually a support line, but if you bother enough people, maybe you’d get somewhere... try 425-889-9642.
Edit: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8625-WRAH-9030#sold basically says to put in a ticket, if you can’t get that phone number back.

They don’t. No live chat either, just submitting a ticket and hoping someone responds sooner rather than later should this not be enough.
I recall that you’re supposed to be given an override code should all your 2 factor authentication methods fail, but I think that’s a Origin and uPlay thing, since I’ve never gotten one for Steam.

Steam support is aggressively bad. For example this article tells you what you need to get your account restored if self-help doesn’t work for you, but it also seems to not give you any way to actually contact them:

Somewhere you should be able to put a ticket in though...
Good luck!

I wish I knew how to help, but I will say, every few weeks steam will try to ask me if my email is still valid and then it sends a confirmation link.

Yep, for some reason it is asking for a text confirmation as well. It’s frustrating lol

Yeah but how can I put in a ticket?

Yeah it’s the ticket thing that’s stumping me. They mention putting in a ticket/contacting customer support but make it impossible to find.

Jeez. Sucks ‘cause I really want to buy GTA San Andreas while it’s $5. By the time they get back to me (if I can ever find out how to contact them), the sale will probably be over.

Apparently there’s an ability to get to a dead end where it finally lets you? Dunno.
Also, if you create a new account, you won’t be able to merge it with another one. If you do that, you might want to gift the game to your other account or something.

Hmm, gifting is an option. Thanks for the idea!
